about
I went to a post-apocalyptic desert party with my drummer for a week -- many know it as Burning Man. However, it is my New Year. I spent a week where gifting replaced commerce, reality abandoned logic, and experience outweighed discomfort. This song explains my interactions with a few of my favorite art installations there -- an interactive zoetrope (monkey man, Harold Moon), and a massive wooden oil derrick with human statues made of woven medal rope bowing down to it in praise. This is also the song that helped me coin my music as "desert rock." - (via www.daytrotter.com)
lyrics
Harold moon and monkey man
Bleed in blue tonight
Take the apple from the hand
Swing from branch
To branch
To branch
Pedal your bike quickly
Till you get quite sickly
Till you’re sweating leather
Forget about the weather
Harold moon and monkey man
Bring your better half, bring your better half
Harold moon and monkey man
Forget about the weather
If I could see the brighter side
The desert dries each day
If I could see the sun that came and melts it all away
Well, life would be a dream
I dream each day
Harold moon and monkey man
Where’s your bottom half
You taped your thoughts up to a tree and you
Told them what you think, yeah you told them what you think
Climb the oil derrick, hang above the rest, hang above the rest
And they’ll start praising you, with fire from their chest
It’s fire from their breath
